Hello again, Catonsville! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Catonsville Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Patch is looking for a local writer and entrepreneur to take the helm of the Catonsville Daily. Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Catonsville long term. So if you’re interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here.

Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. Bra’Niya Walker, 16, went missing from the Catonsville area on Mar. 24. She is five feet and nine inches tall, 90 pounds, and was last seen wearing green scrubs and a black jacket. If anyone sees her or has information call 911 or 410-307-2020. (Baltimore County Police)
  2. Baltimore County’s new emergency alert system, BaltCo Alert, is now operational. BaltCo Alert sends automated notifications (phone calls, text, and/or e-mails) to users about “situations such as severe weather, hazardous materials spills, widespread utility outages, disaster evacuations and emergency situations near schools.” Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said “BaltCo Alert allows us to instantly share critical and time-sensitive information with the Baltimore County community” and “clear, timely communication is critical for supporting effective and efficient emergency response and for ensuring our residents can remain safe.” (Patch)
  3. Mary Ellen Beaty-O’Ferrall, a Catonsville resident, convinced her neighbors to help fill boxes with essentials (socks, bandages, clothing, soap, medical supplies, lip balm, and more) to donate to Ukraine. Father Vasyl Sivinskyi from St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church collects the donations and said he “has seen people of all faiths come together in support of the people of Ukraine.” (Catholic Review)
