BEL AIR, MD — A new type of fitness is now available in Bel Air.
Jabz Boxing in Bel Air Town Center offers classes with kickboxing, cardio, plyometrics, agility and functional training exercises built into them.
Harford County resident Helen O’Keefe launched the business off Baltimore Pike, which features circuit-style workouts that target the whole body using exercises inspired by boxing moves.

The focus is on fitness, not fighters, according to the Jabz Boxing concept.
Nationwide, 15 studios are in the Jabz Boxing franchise. The Bel Air location is the first in Maryland for Jabz Boxing.

O’Keefe and her husband learned about the concept out of state.
“We found Jabz in Philadelphia, tried the workout, and were hooked,” O’Keefe told Bel Air Patch.
“We have already seen some significant individual success stories related to the Jabz workout with personal fitness and health,” O’Keefe said, since opening Jabz Boxing Nov. 6 in Bel Air.
Previously, O’Keefe said she taught history for 14 years and stayed home for a while.
She and her husband were athletes in high school and college; O’Keefe said she was a field hockey player, while her husband played baseball. They have gotten into running and recreation sports but wanted something else.
“We were looking for a business that had a healthy environment and a welcoming community — all of which is a perfect fit for Bel Air,” O’Keefe said.
“Our kids have been active and played organized sports too,” O’Keefe said.
Jabz Boxing is available to people 16 years and up “of all levels of fitness, backgrounds and abilities,” O’Keefe said.
Her experience since opening the business has been “very rewarding,” O’Keefe told Bel Air Patch.
“Our diverse membership has grown and been supportive of other groups, such as giving to the HCAA and Extreme Family Outreach programs during the holiday season,” O’Keefe said. “We have wonderful members and a fantastic coaching team.”
In the studio, more than 250 pieces of equipment are available, as well as a custom-designed ring.

“Jabz is a competitive market leading brand in the boxercise industry with a truly unique approach to a fun and holistic workout in a highly supportive environment,” said Jabz Boxing Brand President Bertus Albertse in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to support Helen,” Albertse said, “as she introduces this exciting, one-of-a-kind workout to Bel Air and its surrounding neighborhoods.”
Jabz Boxing is at 520 Baltimore Pike in Bel Air.
