the 3rd child born to Eugene A. and Dorothy Maria Williams Richardson of Havre De Grace, Maryland was born on November 17, 1952. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Philip attended and graduated from Havre De Grace Consolidated School and Havre De Grace High School. He received an Associate Degree from Harford Community College, Bel Air, MD in Mass Communications.
Philip joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, AZ (Active Duty, January 1972 to August 1975). He served as Medical Supply Specialist, Staff Sergeant, (E-4) responsible for inventory/shipping/receiving medical supplies for regional USAF hospitals in Tucson, Arizona and Okinawa, Japan. Also, Philip joined the 135th Airlift Group, Baltimore, MD (Air National Guard), serving as Technical Sergeant (E-6), from January1979 to September 1999. As Video Production Specialist, he produced training videos and general photography in support of various missions, event documentation and humanitarian relief. Also served as primary video editor using non-linear editing systems to produce presentations, gaining valuable experience as USAF Combat Camera Tech, in setting up/teardown and movement of ruggedized video production equipment.
One of Philip’s greatest civilian career accomplishments was at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC), Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD from September 1983 to November 2007, as Mechanical Engineering Technician (Test Director) for 24 years.
Philip also worked for NCI, Inc. –Springfield, VA from July 2016 to May 2020 as Test and Evaluation Coordinator; for Booz Allen Hamilton, Belcamp, MD from July 2013 to September 2014.
Philip’s last job would be the job of his dreams with Linchpin Solutions/KLAS, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. He couldn’t stop talking about how great this company is to work for. He couldn’t tell you much, since most of his jobs throughout his civilian career required secret or top secret clearances. He liked saying, “If I tell you what I do, I’ll have to kill you.
Philip is survived by Margaret, his wife of seven and half years, one daughter, Philicia (Nechelle) Richardson from a previous marriage, one step-son, Neil Dyson (Renee) of Frederick, Maryland, one grandson, Caleb Richardson, two step-grandchildren, James and Olivia Dyson of Frederick, Maryland, two brothers, Gene (Patricia) Richardson of Wilmington, Delaware, William Richardson of Edgewood, Maryland, one sister, Regina Richardson of Palm Bay, Florida, one brother-in-law, David (Gina) Bowser of Dallas, Texas, one Aunt Rosa Williams Bond of Aberdeen, and a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents and Son, Philip Gregory Richardson Jr.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 29 from 11am-12pm at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home where a funeral service will begin at 12:00pm. Interment will be held on Monday, January 31 at 10am at Mt. Calvary UMAE Church Cemetery.
