BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State Bulldogs (4-2, 4-3 CIAA) will return to the BSU tennis courts on Saturday, Apr. 2 to host the Elizabeth City State Vikings 12 noon. The contest will be a doubleheader between the two teams with the second match being a non-conference tilt.

The Bulldogs swept the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union during their last outing, which provided BSU with its first division win on the year. Bowie State dominated in singles and doubles play to earn the victory against Elizabeth City State, 4-0.
Bowie State took an early lead in the match claiming the doubles point. In singles competition the Bulldogs kept the momentum by accounting for wins in positions 1, 2 and 4. Freshman Kayla Lowery (Cleveland, OH) got things going with a 6-0, 6-0 set win at the No. 2 singles, while sophomore Afruica Gentle (Germantown, Guyana) tabbed a win thanks to her opponent retiring in the second set (6-0, 1-0) at the No. 1 singles. Sophomore Tamia Byrom (Upper Marlboro, MD) grabbed the last point of the day for the Bulldogs with a 6-1, 6-1 set win.
ECSU is 2-4 overall and 2-4 in the CIAA. The Vikings are coming off a 4-2 loss to Virginia State on Mar. 26.
Saturday’s match between Bowie State and Elizabeth City State will be the second and third meeting this season. BSU defeated the Vikings, 5-2 back on Mar. 5.
