BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State women’s tennis (3-3, 3-2 CIAA) will travel to Richmond, Va., on Saturday, Mar. 26 for a meeting with Virginia Union and its division opener. First serve is slated for 12 noon.
The Bulldogs are coming off a split on the final day of the CIAA round-up last weekend in Bowie, Md. Bowie State defeated Winston-Salem State, 4-0 before falling to Shaw, 4-1. Sophomore Afruica Gentle (Germantown, Ghana) is the Bulldogs top player with a 4-0 record at the No. 1 singles while the duo of Gentle and freshman Kayla Lowery (Cleveland, OH) post a .500 record (2-2) at the No. 1 doubles.
VUU (2-3, 0-1 CIAA) is coming off a 5-0 setback to Johnson C. Smith at the CIAA round-up. In fact, the Panthers also split on the final day of the two-day event, earning a 5-3 win over Livingstone on Saturday (3/19).
The Lady Panthers and the Bulldogs are tied at 11-11 since 2009. However, VUU currently own a six-match winning streak capped off by a 5-2 victory in Richmond last time out. Bowie State and Virginia Union will meet for the first time since 2019.
